Cancer from the Sun Month occurs in June.
Skin cancer affects people of all ages. One in five Americans will develop skin cancer in the course of a lifetime; 13 million Americans are living with a history of non-melanoma skin cancer, and nearly 800,000 Americans are living with a history of melanoma, the most dangerous form of skin cancer.
Skin cancer is chiefly lifestyle disease and highly preventable. The most common cause is exposure to ultraviolet (UV) radiation from the sun.
This event is sponsored by the Pharmacists Planning Service, Inc. May also includes a month long event devoted to Melanoma by the American Academy of Dermatology.
